Mandy Nash felted pumpkin vessel workshop
Mandy Nash, who in 2021 co-ordinated and edited, with International Feltmakes Association members, the valuable resource book, British Wool for Feltmaking. Mandy gave a very interesting and informative talk to our STACS group including handing round lots of samples which showed us the diversity and wonders of British wool.
The following day she ran an excellent workshop for a group of participants from STACS some of whom had done felting previously and some who hadn’t. The workshop was considered as advanced but despite not having felted before Mandy made sure that we all achieved a completed project by the end of the day. She also, very generously, supplied a lot of the tools we needed to create our felted work and brought a huge amount of perfect quality wool which we could purchase from her.
Right from the start of the day we were busy laying layers of wool, which was fantastic to work with, and felting them starting with a dark base layer and working up to two coloured top layers. By the end of the day, we had achieved making a ‘pumpkin vessel’ which you can see in the photo. A very busy and rewarding day and my felted vessel is sitting in pride of place in my home. Thank you so much Mandy.
